BMC Cancer Committee

A diagnosis of cancer has the potential to impact every facet of a patient's life. In addition to an array of medical interventions, many of our patients require other vital services to help them and their families cope with their illness. That's why BMC has assembled a multi-disciplined Cancer Committee to lead its program, drawing on the best resources of the hospital and recruiting some of our most talented caregivers to the effort. The Cancer Committee includes primary care and specialty physicians, nurses, a certified cancer registrar and representatives from such diverse department as case management, quality management, clinical research, the pharmacy, behavioral health, nutrition and even a representative from the American Cancer Society. At monthly meetings, the committee is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and improving all cancer related activities throughout Berkshire Health Systems.

In addition to the monthly meetings, BMC's Cancer Program sponsors a weekly Cancer Conference where a team of caregivers from throughout the hospital focus their collective expertise on specific patients to insure they are receiving the best care possible. A weekly Breast Conference takes the same multidisciplinary approach to each case and a comprehensive review of care.
