Psychiatry & Behavioral Health

Drawing on the expertise of 18 psychiatrists and nine clinical nurse specialists, teaming with clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, nurses and other clinicians, our Psychiatry and Behavioral Science program provides extensive mental health services. The key is a clinical collaboration between the Berkshire Medical Center Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science and the Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. The majority of acute services are based at BMC, with the Brien Center providing most long-term outpatient services.

Combined, there are two inpatient psychiatry units - Jones 2 and Jones 3 - one inpatient chemical dependency unit , a partial hospitalization program, child crisis stabilization unit, two adult crisis houses, half-way houses, rehabilitation programs, seven outpatient clinics, a memory disorders clinic and a crisis team. On average, this unique and highly effective program treats close to 10,000 patients each year.

The majority of acute care services are located at Berkshire Medical Center, and most long-term outpatient services are found at the Brien Center.
