Our Weight Loss Surgery Team
The Berkshire Center for Weight Loss Surgery and BMC have assembled a comprehensive program that is second to none. In addition to our fellowship-trained gastrointestinal surgeons, we also provide a Bariatric Coordinator who oversees the program and ensures that our patients take advantage of every tool available to help them succeed. Registered dietitians, mental health professionals, anesthesiologists and primary care physicians all work as part of our dedicated team, and we work in close coordination with other specialists such as cardiology, pulmonology and radiology.

Andrew Lederman, MD, FACS, Medical Director, Berkshire Center for Weight Loss Surgery
- Has performed more than 125 bariatric procedures, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, and vertical banded gastroplasty, as well as complicated and revisional bariatric surgery.
- Fellowship-trained in bariatric and laparoscopic surgery
- An instructor for mini-fellowships in bariatric surgery
- Serves on the Bariatric Surgery Liaison Committee for the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgery
- Fellowship trained in laparoscopic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery
- Extensive experience in laparoscopic surgery
- Nationally recognized in laparoscopic and societies
- Served on Surgical Care Task Force and Informed Consent Task Force for the Department of Public Health/Betsy Lehman Center For Medical Error Reduction study on Weight Loss Surgery
