Cancer Services at BMC
At the Cancer Institute of the Berkshires at BMC, state-of-the-art anti-cancer radiation therapy is coupled with a talented and compassionate staff to provide high-quality treatment for most forms of cancer. Overall planning and care is provided by medical, surgical and radiation oncologists who work
as a team to provide individualized treatment with the most advanced technology and equipment.
Berkshire Medical Center's Cancer Program has been approved by the American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer continuously since 1979 and received its Outstanding Achievement Award in 2006 - the first year this recognition was possible. BMC will maintain its accreditation at this level until the next survey in 2009.
The Cancer Institute of the Berkshires at BMC treats patients with many forms of cancer and has specialized treatment options including prostate seeding, where small irradiated “seeds” are placed in the prostate and provide a concentrated dose to the cancerous area without affecting surrounding tissue.
Our comprehensive services include medical, surgical and radiation oncology provided by highly trained physicians who specialize in the care of cancer patients. The BMC radiation department is equipped with two linear accelerators to provide state-of-the-art radiation therapy, as well as a CT Scan simulation system to reduce preparation for patients receiving radiation therapy.
Our patients are invited to use the parking lot directly in front of the Cancer Institute of the Berkshires. Entrance to the lot is at the corner of North and Wahconah Streets.
