| Primary Duties | The histotechnologist/CLS implements the hospital and laboratoary missions, goals, and objectives. This includes the performance of anatomical pathology or histological examinations, quality control, instrument maintenance, testing validation. Testing management and other functions toward the attainment of these goals. |

| Minimum Qualifications | Baccalaureate or Associates degree or equivalent in a biological or related science. HT (ASCP) Histology Technician (Board of Registry), HTL (ASCP) Histotechnologist (Board of Registry). Two or more years of acceptable histopathology training under supervision of a Board Certified pathologist. One year full time acceptable experience in an approved histology lab preferred. Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations including working additional hours or shifts. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods of time, and under stress, to ensure against errors. Above average manual dexterity. Effective communication skills, use of computer systems, listening, speaking, writing, and reading. Knowledge of HIS and LIS. Assosrted lab analyzers and equipment appropriate to scope of position and dependent upon current technology. |
