Driver Evaluation Program
Mobility in the community maximizes opportunity for independence. One of the primary forms of mobility is driving. This program provides an objective means of assessing a patient's ability to safely operate an automobile. The program components are a clinic evaluation of the patient's visual, cognitive and perceptual skills as they relate to the operation of a motor vehicle, and an actual road test to identify deficits.
The goals of the program are:
- To assess if the patient has the potential for safe driving
- To facilitate the patient's ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
- To provide communication with referral sources
- To provide appropriate education to patients and family members
