Berkshire Medical Center is a major affiliate of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In that important role, it serves as a site for third-year clerkships for the University of Massachusetts Medical School in the core clerkships - medicine, surgery and obstetrics/gynecology - as well as offering experiences in psychiatry, family practice and pediatrics. Since 2002, eight third-year students from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine have spent their entire third year on the BMC campus.
Additionally, fourth-year medical students from our medical schools and other schools throughout the United States schedule sub-internships and elective rotations at Berkshire Medical Center.
A large number of full-time and voluntary faculty are responsible for medical student education.
Examination scores of students educated at Berkshire Medical Center consistently equal or exceed those of students whose equivalent experience is elsewhere.
Medical students who schedule clerkships, sub-internships or electives at Berkshire Medical Center are provided with free room and board.
