State Clinics

Supported by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the State Clinics at Berkshire Medical Center provide several vital services to the community. They include:

HIV Testing Clinic
The HIV Testing and Counseling Clinic provides both anonymous and confidential HIV testing to individuals, over age 13, seeking knowledge of their HIV status. Pre-test counseling sessions are individualized to specifically address the needs of each client. Post-test counseling sessions are viewed as a time to reinforce educational efforts begun in the pre-test counseling sessions and to provide appropriate support and referrals. The counseling is done by a nurse and guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control are utilized. Walk-in hours and appointments are available. Call (413) 447-2654 for more details.

 Tuberculosis Clinic
The Tuberculosis Clinic provides screening, diagnosis and treatment as well as follow-up for individuals infected with tuberculosis. Our goal is to provide prompt diagnosis and medical treatment of active tuberculosis and to maximize compliance through client education and monitoring. The Clinic also provides prophylactic treatment to appropriate individuals who are closely monitored for compliance and for signs and symptoms of drug toxicity. Individuals must be referred by their primary care physician. For more information please call (413) 447-2654.

 Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic
The Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic provides testing and treatment to individuals, over 13 years of age. Appointments are designed to meet the needs of the client. Referrals for support services and partner notification services are available through the Clinic. Services are provided by appointment. Call (413) 447-2654 for more details.

 Hepatitis Prevention Program
Through funding provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, we are now able to offer hepatitis education, testing, and immunizations to individuals, 18 years of age and older, who are at high risk for hepatitis infection. People considered to be at high risk are individuals who had blood transfusions before 1992, who have a history of injection drug use, unprotected sex with an infected individual, or who have used intranasal cocaine. We also offer hepatitis A and B immunizations. Call (413) 447-2654 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Additional Services
 Pregnancy Testing:
The Clinic offers pregnancy testing at the cost of $15.00. Call (413) 447-2654 for more details.

 Pre-Marital Blood Work:
The Clinic offers pre-marital blood screening at a cost of $15.00 per person. Massachusetts law requires pre-marital blood testing before you can obtain a marriage license. These test results are valid for 30 days. If you have not obtained your marriage license by that time you will need to have blood work repeated. Call (413) 447-2654 for more information.
